Suddenly no IP blocker seemed to work other than the host file and some firewalls.ĭo not depend on an IP blocker to save your butt. Vista changed everything because they altered the way network connections functioned in the OS. However in contrast to Peer Guardian it was lightning fast. however even using such tools there is no guarantee for 100 security and you may experience other issues if you use them.
The Protowall was a nightmare to install because they didn't have a real good installer and you had to go into network connections and make them yourself. you could use tools like peerblock, peerguardian or other similar tools to block certain p2p connections. I mean you're talking milliseconds to get the IP and the peer guardian seemed to take a second or better to react. Peer guardian was easy to install and use but I always had doubts about it because of how slow it was to react and block.
Peer guardian was one and Protowall had the other. Believe me, those hunting for the copywrite people are just as knowledgable about this stuff as you and when they don't connect they will assume you are running some sort of blocker and go try it again with an unknown.īack before Vista came along they had a couple of these blockers out. All it really can be used for is monitoring the communication via the internet your computer is having and blocking specified IP addresses from communicating. Click links below for required collection. As is already mentioned, this doesn't work well against unknown dynamic IPs.
